Facilitative Leadership Programme

Facilitation lies at the core of Leading by Adventure
It is the ability to take the challenges and opportunities we face, and to create an environment around them that inspires and supports people in committing to the adventure of solving them.
Facilitation is all about engaging people’s hearts, minds and spirit in, and through:
  • Clarifying shared ambition for what is to be achieved
  • Structuring best practice in a way that engages the best of everyone in arriving at a solution
  • Facilitating relationships of trust that encourage the full benefit of diversity and vulnerability
  • Delivering outcomes that grow both the business, and the team members involved
  • Creating and holding an environment in which everyone can bring their highest potential
  • Ensuring strategic learning from every interaction
While our paradigm may be that facilitation is the remit of someone with positional authority, the reality is that such facilitation can be influenced and supported from any and all positions in the team. And as more of people’s roles become about change and relationships, these facilitative skills will be key to success. In the new future of work, we are all leaders.
Our four day Facilitative Leadership Programme is conducted in a virtual environment. This reflects our expectation that the future of work is going to involve an increase in remote working and distributed teams. It also reflects the fact that it is far easier for participants to see how to adapt the virtual resources to a physical situation than vice versa.
The programme utilises the tools and techniques of facilitation both in its content and in its delivery – it is not training so much as facilitated learning.
Its techniques are ones of intense engagement and participation. Participants are more absorbed and stimulated than they commonly experience, even in physical meetings. As a result it avoids the fatigue and disengagement typical of virtual meetings, and is delivered in full days. This makes it more efficient and easier to schedule into peoples calendars.
The programme is highly visual. It uses ten vast virtual whiteboards (similar to the one on the right) to both engage participation and to provide a lasting reference to the learning experience. The boards created in the programme are available to participants after the programme completes as a resource for recall, for extending their practice, and for their own meetings and teamwork.
The programme is delivered on a client by client basis. If you are interested in discussing how you might adopt the programme for your own business, please contact us.
